Congratulations to Luisanny Ortiz and Christie Schweizer for each reaching a milestone anniversary at Anchor House – both are celebrating 15 years!

Photo of LuisannyLuisanny (pictured) is a Case Manager at both our Anchorage Transitional Living Program and Shelter, helping to shape the lives of the young people we serve. In addition to working at Anchor House, she is a high school guidance counselor. Luisanny is also preparing for her third year as a member of the Support Team for the Anchor House Foundation Ride for Runaways. The Support Team ensures the safety of the participants and that they have all they need during the Ride.

“Fifteen years at Anchor House has been more than a job,” explains Luisanny. “It’s been a journey of growth, learning and impact. Through every interaction with youth, every lesson from co-workers, and every challenge overcome. I’ve not only helped change lives but have changed myself.”

Photo of Christie with kidsChristie is a Psychoeducational Counselor at Anchor House where she runs group sessions weekly at Anchorage. She also is the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Facilitator. The YAC is comprised of past and present Anchor House youth and young adults and provides an opportunity for them to be involved in our agency’s service planning, program development and program evaluation as well as advocate for issues related to youth homelessness on a larger scale. For her work at Anchor House, Christie was honored with a 2018 Mercer County Cherish the Children Award.

“What being at Anchorage for 15 years means is that I have been a part of an agency that supports and cares for young people,” Christie (pictured, far right) explains. “To be a part of their lives, even years later when prior residents, many who are now in their late 20s and 30s, reach out to share all the exciting things going on in their lives as well as those who connect for a listening ear and words of encouragement. It’s a blessing to be part of the agency and so many amazing young adults’ lives for these past 15 years.”

Thank you Luisanny and Christie!
