In the first installment of our two-part series, we invite you to experience A Day in the Life at Anchor House. Special thanks to Denise Bard, our Board Secretary, Co-Chair of the Communications Workgroup, and a former Shelter resident, who traveled many miles to help capture this story.
This month, meet Andrea Wormley, one of our dedicated Case Managers and a member of our Coordinated Entry Assessment System (CEAS) team. Through CEAS, Andrea works with young people ages 18–24 who are experiencing homelessness, helping them secure housing placements and access essential services.
Why does she do this work? Hear directly from Andrea in the video below.
This past July marked Andrea’s fourth anniversary with the organization.
At Anchor House, she helps youth ages 18–24 not only find housing but also access resources for mental health, education, and stability. “It’s housing first, but not housing only,” Andrea emphasizes. “We deal with the whole person.” Learn more about Andrea’s role as a Case Manager in the video below.
When asked what made her choose Anchor House, Andrea responded, “When I was looking up jobs, Anchor House drew me in because I knew they were working with youth who are marginalized, runaway and abused. They are the vulnerable community and knowing that Anchor House focused on that group of people drew me in.”
For Andrea, joining Anchor House was never just about a job. Another reason she chose Anchor House was because of “The love I have for people, especially those who are not thought about in society,” she shares. “I want people not just to survive, but to thrive where they choose to live.”
Over the years, Andrea has worked with countless youth, helping them believe in possibilities beyond the limits they once imagined. She describes some of her most rewarding moments as witnessing a young person’s “light bulb goes off” when they realize they can dream bigger. Andrea knows the power of showing up. She has celebrated graduations, taking photos at milestones, or simply encouraging them to see their own worth.
Her passion is clear: to remind youth that they are more than their circumstances, and to stand beside them as they discover a better future. And, at Anchor House, she can do just that.
