Anchor House was founded in 1978 by a group of concerned citizens to help move youth and young adults who are experiencing homelessness or have runaway off the streets of Trenton and reunite them with their families. Today, Anchor House offers a myriad of comprehensive, life-saving programs and services to more than 1,000 youth and their families each year. Our mission is to provide a safe haven where abused, runaway, homeless and at-risk youth and their families are empowered to succeed and thrive. The anchor is used as a metaphor representing a ship dropping its anchor as a safe place to rest and wait out the storm.
Anchor House provides food, emergency housing, clothing, —and hope—for hundreds of youth and young adults who have runaway or are experiencing homelessness every year—offering a beacon of survival for youth throughout the Mercer County area. Our houses and outreach programs work with youth and families in need to begin the process of putting the family back together.
