Funder Spotlight: Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS)

Anchor House wants to thank Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) for supporting our agency including funding toward our Safe Housing initiatives like our Shelter and for their employees who have volunteered with us over the years.

“In 2020, Anchor House received a devastating funding cut to our Shelter,” said Kim McNear. “It was during the height of the pandemic and these services were needed more than ever. It was such a turbulent time, dealing with the ramifications of the pandemic and with this funding loss.”

“I remember one of our dedicated volunteers who worked at BMS connecting me with the Director of Community Affairs at BMS at that time, to apply for funding through their Corporate Giving program,” Kim explained.  “We received a generous grant from BMS that year which I will be forever grateful for and in subsequent years for our Shelter and other Safe Housing initiatives.”

Anchor House has also been fortunate to have both individuals and groups volunteer from BMS.  One of our faithful volunteers is Sebella Miller, Senior Director, Regional Clinical Operations – USA for BMS. Sebella was very interested in helping Anchor House introduce healthy living concepts to our youth and sharing this knowledge with them. She was a huge help as a committee member for our 45th anniversary event in 2023, joined our Board that same year, and is also an active member of our Fund Development workgroup.

Recently, Sebella and members of the BMS Clinical Operations leadership team volunteered as part of the Days of Caring initiative through BMS which gives employees time during the workday to volunteer in the community. Sebella and her team participated at a packing party in an anticipation of our move to our Brunswick Avenue site that houses our Connect to Home, Street Outreach and Anchor Line Apartment Programs.  The BMS ‘dream team’ got the party started by happily packing and moving items.

“I take great pride in working for a company that invests time and resources into helping others,” explained Sebella. “My role as a board member at Anchor House is made even more rewarding by the commitment from BMS to provide employees with opportunities to give back, through their volunteer program.”

Thank you BMS and thank you Sebella!
