At Anchor House, our team works together with youth to develop educational, career, and life goals and help them toward achieving them. A huge goal for many youth – graduation! We wanted to celebrate two Anchor House youth who graduated recently.
Our CEAS (Coordinated Entry Assessment System) Case Manager referred one of our youth to our Rapid Rehousing (RRH) Program, and she was successfully placed in her own apartment. She graduated from Fortis University where she received her certification to become a Medical Assistant (with honors)! She asked if her Case Managers from CEAS and RRH would attend her graduation to stand up for her. Her family was on the way, but she was not sure if they would make it in time. She was so happy to see her Case Managers and exclaimed, “Oh wow, you came,” when she saw them in attendance. Her family made it there after and that was so good to see! The youth was smiling so hard as she introduced her Case Managers to her aunt, cousin, and her cousins’ 1-month-old infant and 3-year-old daughter. The Case Managers took pictures of the proud graduate and sent some to her! The RRH Case Manager notified the CEAS Case Manager that the youth received the job she applied for as a medical assistant a few hours after graduation.
Another youth recently graduated from Mercer County Community College with his Associate’s of Science in Business Administration. He was then accepted into Rutgers University to get his Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning and Design.
Congrats to all our youth who recently graduated or will be graduating soon!
