OceanFirst Bank Made Waves on Centre Street!

On Friday, September 18th, the OceanFirst Bank WaveMakers came by our Shelter on Centre Street to provide some much needed refreshing – indoors and out!

A group of 8 WaveMakers lent their hands to redecorate bedrooms, weeding gardens, and planting festive Autumn mums while redecorating with the orange-and-yellow colors of the season.

“Volunteering at Anchor House was a meaningful reminder of what community is all about—coming together, lending a hand, and helping create spaces where young people can feel welcomed, supported, and at home,” said Tess Terranova, HR Coordinator at OceanFirst.  “We were grateful for the warmth of the Anchor House team and proud to play a small part in the lasting impact they make in the lives of youth throughout our community.”

Expressing gratitude for the amazing work, Kim McNear, Anchor House Executive Director, had this to say: “We are extremely grateful to OceanFirst Bank for being such an amazing partner and for their continued commitment to our youth and community. Their generosity goes far beyond a day of service; it helps create spaces where young people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Thank you, OceanFirst Bank and the WaveMakers, for continuing to show up for Anchor House and, most importantly, for our youth!”

The WaveMakers helped Anchor House refresh 6 rooms with new sheets, comforters, and drapes – they even painted!  They also tackled some heavy duty gardening in front of our two Centre Street buildings, clearing out the weeds and planting some beautiful mums.  To top it all off, they provided a generous food donation that included garlic bread, homemade lasagna, and chocolate chip cookies that they baked fresh on premises!
