In 2025, our substance abuse prevention and education programming transitioned to a wellness-focused model to strengthen the program and increase youth engagement. The job title of Substance Abuse Prevention Counselor was changed to Wellness and Recovery Counselor to better reflect a more comprehensive role supporting youth with mental health, substance use, and overall recovery. The Wellness and Recovery Counselor facilitates psychoeducational groups at Anchorage every other week and is available to meet individually as well as groups. Even with the title change, the Wellness & Recovery Counselor continues to focus efforts on substance abuse prevention and education.
