Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors and community, Anchor House youth walked into school this year with confidence and pride.
From those who shopped our Amazon Wish List for back-to-school supplies, to Trenton’s own NBA rising star Jamir Watkins—who gave back to his hometown by hosting a Back-to-School Bash at DICK’S Sporting Goods for Anchor House, to the Department of Transportation hosting a collection drive, our young people felt supported every step of the way.
You are all true MVPs to Anchor House.
Answering the Call
When we asked for help through our Amazon Wish List and donations toward the purchases of school supplies, so many of you did! Your support ensured that our youth had backpacks, notebooks, pens, and other necessities to walk into school prepared. Some donors went even further—one supporter personally invited four of our Shelter residents to pick out their own backpacks, then purchased them. These personal touches remind our youth that their community truly cares.
A Hometown Hero
We were honored to be chosen by NBA rising star Jamir Watkins as one of the organizations he supported in his hometown of Trenton. Jamir hosted a Back-to-School Bash at DICK’S Sporting Goods in Princeton, where ten of our youth had the chance to select brand-new clothes, shoes, and other essentials to start the school year with confidence.
Joined by his family (pictured), Jamir demonstrated his deep commitment to giving back to the community where he was raised. From his days as a standout at Trenton Catholic Academy, to excelling at VCU and Florida State, and now being drafted by the Washington Wizards, he continues to be a true hometown inspiration.
At the event, Jamir offered our youth more than supplies—he shared a powerful message of perseverance, education, and pride. He reminded them that no matter where you come from, hard work and belief in yourself can take you far.
We also extend our sincere thanks to DICK’S Sporting Goods for providing pizza and refreshments, and to store manager Kevin Dougherty for helping make the day especially memorable.
Community Kindness in Action
Anchor House also benefited from a collection drive by the Department of Transportation as part of their Act of Kindness Initiative this summer. Their generosity, along with the contributions from individuals and groups across the community, made a lasting impact.
You Are the MVPs
To all who donated—whether through Amazon, direct giving, collection drives, or special events—you are the true MVPs of Anchor House. Because of you, our youth started the year with the tools they need to succeed and the confidence to thrive.
Thank you for showing them that they are valued, supported, and not alone.
