A Welcoming Space: Youth Drop-In Center

Located at 868 Brunswick Avenue in Trenton, the Drop-In Center welcomes any youth and young person, ages 14-21, in need of services.  Services help support the transition from youth to an independent adult.

Malik Charles, Street Outreach Program Case Manager, is one of the welcoming faces greeting youth.

“At the Drop-In Center we have made it our personal and professional endeavor to both support and inspire youth on their journey from surviving to thriving,” says Malik.

“We strive to build lasting and impactful relationships that will leave an indelible imprint on the hearts and minds of those we help,” he continues.

The Drop-In Center offers clothing, food and drink, transportation, medical/hygiene items, life skills services, access to computers and employment/resume assistance.  Case managers are onsite available to help young people secure housing opportunities.

The Center is located in a newly renovated and bright space. The location also houses the Anchor Line Apartment Program and Connect to Home offices.

Just past the welcome desk is a common area with couches, books and computer access.  Young people can take a moment to relax, use a computer or meet with a case manager.  The kitchen is down the hall with food and snacks and essential supplies are close by.

Believe In Yourself

Anchor House recently held an Open House for youth/young people to learn about services.

A former resident of the Apartment Program spoke about her experiences at the Open House.  The young person explained how Malik helped inspire her to pursue goals without limits.

The young person also spoke about finding confidence and deciding to be better – and encouraged other youth to be the best version they can be.  The message was that no matter what you have been through you still deserve the best.  The message is fitting considering the sign at the welcome desk with “Believe in Yourself.”

The Drop-In Center helps address immediate needs while helping to lift young people up.  The team is here to help youth navigate through whatever challenges they may be facing.

If you are a young person in need of support or know a youth who needs help, reach out to us.  We’re here to listen and support youth every step of the way.

Drop-In Center hours of operation are Monday – Friday 9 am – 6 pm. Contact 609-218-5630 for more information on services or to speak with a case manager.
